To Chicken-Dance or Not to Chicken-Dance?

I just read a link off of Kat's blog about how to get people dancing at a wedding. The article raised a few good points about the benefits of doing the "chicken-dance" at a wedding reception. I always told myself I would never play this kind of garbage at my own reception, but now I'm wondering if the occasion would be incomplete w/ out it. Who thinks a wedding is not complete w/ out a chicken-dance? What about a YMCA? What other songs are must-haves on our reception playlist?

No chicken dance. No YMCA. They're cheesy!

"Baby got back," however, will get the dance floor hoppin'.

I hate decisions like this. I don't think I'm cut out for ever getting married.

IE is being so weird today. Are you guys having trouble viewing this post? Anyway..

Here are some that came to mind.. just 3.5 hours of music left to go.

AC/DC (You Shook Me All Night Long),
Joan Jett (I Love R&R),
Weezer (Island in the Sun or Beverly Hills),
Queen (My Best Friend),
Elvis (Can't Help Falling In Love),
Sir Mix-A-Lot (Baby Got Back),
Ismael K-whatever-his-last-name-is (Somewhere Over the Rainbow)
Something by Ricky Martin, maybe?

Oh yeah Kat, that's horrible. What about "We Are Family." I HATE THAT SONG!! Everytime I hear it at a wedding, it makes me think everyone is coming out of the closet.

i just went to a wedding where they didn't play chicken dance. all night, you don't think about it, then the dj says: alright, this is the second to last song so get on out here. and the second to last song ain't chicken dance. and you know sure as hell the last song ain't going to be chicken dance. then you spend the whole car ride home wondering: did they play chicken dance when i was in the bathroom doing blow, or did they just not play chicken dance? better off playing chicken dance, i say.

How about "check yoself before ya wreck yoself" by Ice Cube.

I think the older crowd would enjoy that.

When my sister got married, she told the dj he would not get paid if he played the "Chicken Dance". He didn't and a good time was had bt all.
