Guess who's having a baby? It's Brian and me. We just found out. I'm still in shock, quite honestly. Our plan to wait two years, do genetic testing, and use a surrogate has just gone out the window. I can expect an extremely delicate and stressful pregnancy. Obviously, this wasn't something we planned, but everything happens for a reason, so we're happy about it. Cautiously happy.

when you do have kids, why the surrogate?
I have a heart condition and I'm not supposed to carry a baby if I can help it. Someone with my condition ordinarily has a 50/50 chance of dying during pregnancy. But I've had a pretty new heart surgery, so they don't really know how someone in my situation would do. Theoretically, I could be fine, or it could go the same as before. No one can give me a firm answer because no studies have been done.
I'm totally cool with a surrogate though. Except for the cost.
